Adviser Accreditation What is FBA Adviser Accreditation? Click here for a brief overview of the program. The purpose of Family Business Adviser Accreditation is to provide FBA members, of all types and sizes, with safe and efficient access to a broad range of FBA-approved, experienced family business advisers. STEP 1: Family Business Australia Awareness Course Throughout Australia, FBA runs the Family Business Awareness Course. FBA has designed this program, in conjunction with the Australian Centre for Family Business, to raise general awareness of the issues and challenges facing family businesses. The program also highlights best practices as exemplified by great family businesses. Advisers new to FBA are encouraged to attend this course when it is next offered in your Chapter. Check you state events page for more details. STEP 2: FBA Adviser Course: Launching Pad™ Understanding the many dimensions and dynamics of advice, consultations and education for a family‐owned business is a critical factor as you differentiate yourself in this growing field. This unique one‐day interactive seminar, presented in collaboration with the United States Family Firm Institute is designed to help launch family business professionals new to the practice of family business advising. Participants in the seminar will be exposed to the core concepts of interdisciplinary advising to family businesses through lectures and case studies. The seminar introduces family business advisers to the central disciplines critical to working with family firms, and also covers practical matters entailed in building a family business advisory practice. STEP 3: FBA Adviser Course: The Essentials™ Sophisticated advisers to family business know that the complexities of the family business system require the integration of insights from a variety of disciplines. Participants in this seminar join a faculty of experienced family business advisers who work with the United States Family Firm Institute in differing professional backgrounds to focus on identifying and integrating insights from law, finance, management science and behavioural science to solve the problems that appear in the cases presented for study and analysis. The next The Essentials will be held in 2011. Continuing Professional Development As a requirement of Adviser Accreditation, 30 units of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) must be undertaken.
